Hard Candy's "Walk The Line" Liquid Liner:

Just thought I'd share... this picture was taken after a 6 hour wear.
Needless to say, my predictions were correct!
No smudging, it stayed in place and was just as vivd in colour as it was when I first applied it.

Love liquid liners :)

Weekend Finds

I purchased the following three items last night:

The adaptation of Jane Austen's well renowned, "Pride and Prejudice"
Marc Anthony's "Dream Waves Beach Spray"
Hard Candy's Walk the Line Liquid Eye Liner in Asphalt

I'm really into the idea of "no heat hair" this summer.  A, because I'm always looking to avoid heat damage caused by straighteners/curlers etc and B because I've somehow managed to hit early menopause (just kidding ... not really) and can't even blow dry my hair without sweating up a storm.  Irregardless of the season, I need a fan to blow on me (set at HIGH) whilst I style my hair.  Ridiculous!  So, yes, I've been watching some tutorials on YouTube and decided to give this product a go.  Bonus: IT SMELLS LIKE COCONUT.  Hello sexy summer hair!

The liquid eye liner is actually a product I'm returning to.  Having once used liquid and now using a pencil, I've noticed a major difference: pencils are non-lasting.  A combination of oily eyelids and the general wear and tear of a day wipes away my pencil liner until there's nothing left by the day's end.  Liquid, on the other hand, dries within a few minutes of applying.  Because it dries there is less of a possibility that it will smudge.  No smudging = long lasting = happy Stephanie.

Pride and Prejudice... well, I can't very well die an English Lit Major having NOT both read and seen it .... :)

Have a great long weekend friends

Neutrogena's "All in One" Make-up Removing Cleansing Wipes.

With so many make-up removing cloths out on the market, how can one ever decide?  I have had my fair share of both great and not so great batches.  My biggest issue lies with the durability of the cloths: how long will they lock in the moisture?  If, halfway through their usage, the cloths have dried out, I automatically rule out the possibility of EVER buying them again.

The particular cloths pictured above are the best ones - by far - that I have ever tried.  I've gone back and forth between this one and other brands (Balea, Nivea, Proactiv ...) but I always find myself coming back full circle to Neutrogena.

Neutrogena's cloths smell great, are long lasting and always moist.  The very first cloth is just as moist and effective as the last.

This is the one product, I have found thus far, that will never let you down!

So, on the lookout for a new, all-over make-up remover?  Go test 'er out.

Great for sensitive skin and very gentle on the eyes.

Review: Maybeline's Instant Age Rewind (Under Eye Concealer) in 120 Light.

I purchased this product 2 nights ago, but fell in love with it the first time I used it.

I used to use it years ago, when it was packaged in the squeezable, plastic tube.  I stopped using it for whatever reason, but it caught my attention with the re-surge of people advocating it on YouTube.  So I thought, what the heck!

The colour is a slight shade lighter then my foundation, however I did that on purpose.  Even just a tinge lighter, it brightens my face up (something HIGHLY REQUIRED as I must nowadays get by on 5/6 hours of sleep).

Mechanics: This product requires that you twist the top until you see the product appear on the sponge.  The first time, it took QUITE a few twists and I was convinced mine wouldn't work - so don't give up on it if you try it!

Application: Most people would blend the product using the head sponge - which makes perfect sense.  I prefer to apply the product triangularly (i.e. under my eye, sweep down the side of my nose, then back upwards diagonally connecting the lines) and then blend it out with one of my brushes.  This is just due to preference.  You can do whatever you please my loves! :)

Provided you choose the right colour, it blends beautifully.
It also provides enough coverage to hide those dark circles.

I just loved it, and will definitely purchase it again! :)

P.S. I'll try to remember to post a picture (before and after using the product) just so you can see the difference ... I'm WAY too tired at the moment and my eyelids are drooping down to my feet.

Early bedtime tonight!

April and May:

Hi friends,

As mentioned below, Steph's been slacking due to an overloaded schedule...

Just wanted to share some of my life over the past little while (i.e. the month of April and now May...)

All the products above are up and coming reviews, so starting tomorrow I will make a separate post for each in consecutive days to come :)

But for now, thought I'd give ya a little heads up!

Happy weekend :)

Update!

Hey friends, gosh I seem to be the queen of excuses don't I?

I haven't had as much time as I'd like to work on product reviews/videos as I am now ... drumroll please ... AN ASSISTANT TEACHER (well, volunteer to be more exact, however the wonderful teacher I am working with is willing to let me give a few lessons and mark some assignments/tests!) so, the title I gave myself sounds good enough to me ;) LOL

I am at my old High School 5 days a week, for the entire day.  I want to stack up as many hours as I can!  I'm in different rooms throughout the day, with different teachers.  It sure is weird to be in the staff workroom and using the staff washrooms ... seems like just yesterday I was walking the halls as a student.

Anywhos, that is what has been up with me.  I'm assuming weekends will now be my only down time where I can actually sit down and do reviews.  Videos may be short and few as I do not want to waste all my time filming, editing etc....

For now, I am very busy but happy :)

Happy Friday tomorrow :)

Beach Waves Hair Potion!

With summer approaching, I thought it would be a good idea to delve into the beachy/ wavy hair style everyone lusts after in warm, bikini donning season :)

While numerous brand name products are out on the market, I always like the DIY concoctions as it cuts down on cost and allows you to control what goes into your hair scrunch as well as choose what types of products/scents you want to include :) !

The following products will be required:

  • An empty spray [bottle so as to store the homemade product]
  • 8 oz Water
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of conditioner
  • 1/2 teaspoon of hair gel
** This recipe was taken from Livestrong.com (click to see) **

I added the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Hair Serum (1/2 teaspoon) so as to make my hair scrunch a triple threat:

1. The conditioner works to lock moisture into the hair as a salt hair spray may dry out your hair.

2. Hair Gel enhances the hold that is provided by the salt.  Those with wavy hair, like myself, should note that salt helps to lock that wave in place... the hair gel adds an extra "umph" to make sure the waves stay put.

3. After all that, I thought to myself "what about the shine?!" Even if it's supposed to look effortless and messy ... I personally wanted to add some lustre to my hair ... it will also serve as extra protection against drying out caused by salt.

~ NOTES ~
* For those of you who have really thick hair or hair that goes past your shoulders (I just happen to have both) - DOUBLE the recipe .... 16 oz water ... 2 tsp of salt etc...

* I found it easier to combine all the ingredients in a glass measuring cup with a spout
a) You will probably use one to measure the water anyways
b) The spout allowed for easy pouring into the spray bottle afterwards

* Also note: shake well to combine.  Remember that the ingredients will never fully combine, and you will need to shake it again before each use...

Hope this helps :)

Go embrace the summer waves ...
